The defining energy of 2021 is represented by an⚡️ intense⚡️ square between Saturn and Uranus. This year-long transit points to an irreversible process of radical change that is affecting the foundational structures of our lives.
And this transformational energy is about to peak!
As Saturn completes its retrograde cycle on October 10th and resumes its forward progress through the sign of Aquarius, these two heavy hitters are preparing to deliver one more jolt, initiating the final square in a three-peat set.
There's no turning back now! And thank goodness for that. The tension of this square is ripe with opportunity. So here's what you need to know as we round the corner toward the final phase of this configuration...
Uranus in Taurus seeks to unearth and disrupt the ways you've blunted or manipulated your self expression for self-preservation or the promise of security. It demands that we move beyond an excessive focus on survival and opt instead to materialize our higher level values so our lives and our world can more accurately reflect who we are and what we're worthy of. Uranus' presence here, the planet of innovation and progress, reassures us that we're not leaving survival behind as we move on, but carrying it forward.
Thriving is the basis of our survival now.
Any attempts to cling to our survival strategies and their related dependencies on institutions, relationships, or even our own patterns of behavior and thinking, will fail us moving forward. The disempowering and inauthentic ways we've provided for ourselves will no longer produce. But to our surprise and delight, stepping forward into a more honest and desire-led life absolutely will, more bountifully than we imagined.
If Uranus in Taurus brings us this simultaneous upheaval and reassurance, Saturn in Aquarius is our insurance policy with stipulations.
Saturn in Aquarius supports us in materializing that which is emerging. But first, Saturn wants us to recognize that through the process of limiting ourselves to questions of survival, inhibiting our expression and thus our ability to build and receive a life and world we're worthy of, we've become more. 🥳
Over time, our desires have grown in intensity and scope, our best-life vision has come into focus with greater detail and specificity, our willingness to overcome these survival-based fears and anxieties in order to step courageously into our next-level life is reaching critical mass. Saturn points us to the good that has come of our hesitation and resistance, and simultaneously says, "It's Time."
Saturn's presence in Aquarius affirms that our visions are not aspirational, but prophetic. Saturn says that there's substance to our desires and solidity to what we've imagined, if only we'll hold our attention, our expectations, and our energy there long enough for it to take tangible form.
When we trust in the legitimacy of our vision and our deeper sense of what's to come, anxiety is replaced by eagerness and curiosity. And when we regard the pre-manifest phase of creation as reliable and real, intangible though it may seem, our creative potential is unleashed.
Uncertainty is here to stay for some time, but if we'll send our roots down, tapping into life at a deeper level, channeling our own inner wisdom and deep sense of knowing, this can be a time of incredible growth and stability.
With compassionate self-discipline, we can witness the disintegration of familiar structures and rather than give ourselves over to anxiety and despair, see with peace the newness that's emerging. For those of us who learn and practice this revolutionary way of seeing, the reward is not only joyful anticipation, but also the satisfaction of inhabiting our role in the birthing of long and deeply desired new world.
Like a good parent, Saturn admits that it may not be easy, but reminds us that we can bring ease to what challenges us. It won't necessarily be comfortable, but we can comfort ourselves and each other as we move forward through difficulty. It may not be lush right out of the gate, but we can see beauty in new beginnings and cultivate fullness over time.
Stepping forward into a more honest and desire-led life, learning a new way of seeing and being, deepening our roots and trusting ourselves like never before requires us to draw on discipline and commitment, bravery and humility, understanding and an abiding tenderness toward ourselves as we find our footing in unfamiliar terrain. The astrology overwhelmingly supports us in this endeavor.
If this feels daunting, take heart, because where Saturn is involved, you can be sure the fruits of your labor will emerge. What you put in, you'll get out, but don't mistake that for glorification of effort, sacrifice, or suffering. Saturn will make these scarcity- and resistance-based methods especially painful and intolerable now, inviting us instead to practice working with our lives, befriending ourselves and the present moment so we can see and use what-is as the just-right gateway to what's next.
Accepting the invitation of this transit means we'll have to take risks, experiment, get it wrong, get it right, then realize there’s no right or wrong way to do a thing that’s never been done before or be a person you've never been before. However long it takes us, however many times we fall back into old patterns and amplify life as it has been, clarifying—sometimes painfully—all the ways we’ve grown beyond it, we can be soothed by the one-way principle of an expanding universe: Even our backward motion, like any retrograde period, ultimately launches us forward. All is well. May we rest in a deep understanding of that truth so the path, too, may feel generative, nourishing, and secure long before we arrive at our destination.
Whether you feel like the ground is shifting beneath your feet or like your life is locked in place and something has to change, the upcoming astrology workshop series will support you in working with the changes unfolding in your life. Identifying your Personal Satisfaction Factor will get you in touch with the foundational qualities of what's emerging in your life so you can orient yourself there and bring it forward.
